Warner Bros. studios and Paramount pictures have paired up to make the film adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer‘s 2005 book, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close: A Novel. Rumors are the film will be directed by Stephen Daldry (The ReaderThe Hours), and as of this week, the film will star Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock.

Foer’s book takes place one year after 9/11, and centers around a nine-year old boy named Oskar whose father was killed in the North Tower. After Oskar finds a mysterious key left behind by his father, he goes on an inspired hunt around Manhattan to find what the key unlocks. As of now, it has not been officially confirmed that Hanks and Bullock will play the boy’s parents. In the book, Oskar’s grandparents play a large part by reliving their life stories from World War II, so it is a possibility the two A-listers could be cast as them. The role of Oskar, however, is still up for grabs.Jonathan Safran Foer

The film will start shooting in New York around mid-to-late January. This will be the first film Bullock has starred in since winning her Oscar last winter, and based on the Oscar-caliber talent the film is already drawing in, it looks like Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close will be a great follow-up. Hanks already has two Oscars (Forrest GumpPhiladelphia) and three other nods, director Stephen Daldry has three nominations himself (Billy ElliotThe HoursThe Reader), and the screenwriter chosen to adapt the novel Eric Roth, has a statuette of his own for his work on Forrest Gump. There may have never been so much Oscar buzz around a film that has not even been made yet.

No release date has been confirmed for the film, but look for more news and rumors as the film shoot approaches.

There will be all sorts of spin and planted dis-info in this piece of garbage I will bet.
9/11 is Not going away, more and more people are seeing the governmental report as a cover up of the real truth.
So? … what do the PTB do, to TRY and shut down the 9/11 truth movement ???
Why, they enroll hollywood to make a movie, of course !
We all know people get Real truth from TV shows and Movies !
    sheeesh

Boycott this garbage…hollywood should Not make a dime from the 3000+ souls who have died.
    PERIOD !

Those that win write the history books. Those that lose become footnotes in the books.

Quite a vicious comment, independent. Based on what? a bare story line and the names of the people doing the film….hmmmm. Thou dost protest too much? Why don’t you go talk to the families of the dead, the people dying now who went to help, were told it was safe, and are now dying in their hundreds, perhaps thousands, for wanting to help??? (while the Powers That Be deny that they are even dying…) Try looking inside yourself and attempting to find where all your rage comes from… Unless of course you are a plant, like so many others, a distraction:
“The Oil isn’t really leaking out that fast. We are controlling it… it won’t affect animals or people”…. Bet them making a movie about the destruction of the Gulf States and what is yet to come would REALLY get you upset….
